Big FIsh Store

We live very near a huge outrageous outdoor store. It is a huge two story building filled with nothing but everything you could need for outdoor anything. (Did that make sense?)

Our group usually will have this outing a least once a puppy. On this one outing the pups encounter a glass elevator ride, a walk under a water fall, stuffed dead animals (yippee) of all sorts from wolves to turkeys to armadillos to bears. There is also a bridge or two with a pond and an enormous tank full of full size bass and catfish and not to mention the crowds.

I may not be as entertained by the stuffed taxodermy animals but some of the dogs are. We had one dog in particular who was curious about the live fish in the tank and the smells of the animals.

The dogs watched some children play on the target practice. Each target had its own reaction and sound. Halette didn't seem to care.

Here is another dog who was completely into the live fish and the stuffed animals.

Halette midway down the stairs under the waterfall.

Working on stairs with Halette. She doesn't really need it as we live in a two story and she is really good about checking in with us, but it doesn't hurt to always practice. Plus the noise of the water is very loud.

All the dogs did well with the distractions. Halette didn't seem bothered by any of it. Woooohoooo!!!

Halette Learns CPR

Well, of course she didn't, but she did attend CPR class with Jarett. I thought it was a good opportunity with new people, class setting and unusual adult and baby dummies. As you may be able to tell by the photos, she didn't seem to be bothered or distracted by the dummies, in fact she decided to cuddle up to them.

Almond Blossom Parade

Every year in a nearing town they hold the annual Almond Blossom Parade. It is such a beautiful time of the year with all the trees filled with tiny white blossoms that give the appearance of snow topped trees.
This year we took our pups to the parade where they encountered horses, sirens, big loud trucks, crowds and tempting food on the ground. Each pup did great. Although we had to leave early, Halette was able to get a good amount of exposure. We even had to walk along the parade to find the way out.

Here is another shot of my little beauty Halette.

I was a little late in taking the photo so it isn't beautiful or anything. I was running out of time to the point the blossoms were beginning to fall off but here is a picture of some blossoms.

Breakfast with Santa... Halette

I will be playing catch up for a while..... Sorry....

We met up with our puppy raising group early December for Breakfast and a quick date with Santa. It is nothing fancy. We all had a great time chatting over our breakfast, we went over group announcements and receive gift bags. Then we took turn letting the dogs great santa and take a quick photo. Halette, lets say, wasn't timid in the least bit. She wanted to jump all over Santa when she knew that he gave her some attention.

To Grandmama's House We Go

As I had mentioned many posts ago, Tenaya went to spend the night at my mother's house. Growing a Guide Dog: We're back! When we went to pick up Tenaya the next morning, we brought Carla along for a visit. Everyone had fun AND we got some gardening done. I had taken some photos so I thought I would share. Enjoy!

Sophie was over for some play time.

Tenaya loves to run in between the bushes and the fence where Carla can not get to her.

Catch up

I think we last left off with Halette just arriving home from Guide Dogs campus after having minor surgery. Well the day after she arrived home, Halette went into season so in addition to her having to recover, we also had to wait it out for her "time" to come to an end. But all is good now that she is done with "that" and her foot is GREAT, so we are back out on outings!!!
We have quite a bit of catching up to do. I mean, I have outings from last year I never posted about. Ahhh, I am going to have to figure all this out.

In the mean time here is a photo of Halette riding with CC'd Teagan in the back of the truck.

Speaking of....

Speaking of Glimmer, our BLF we raised a few years back who became a breeder, I just received an email from guide dogs informing me (and confirming my suspicion) that Glimmer has been retired as a breeder. :(
I'm glad and sad about this. I wanted to raise just one more of her puppies, but glad she is staying with her breeder keepers. Now, I'm on the trail of figuring out what happened to her pups.
I have some information. As far as I know she had 3 litters. Did any of the pups grow up in your puppy group? Does anyone out there know what happened to Seger or Serrano? If you know anything about ANY pups, please let me know. (I feel like the host of America's Most Wanted). I posted the most recent information I could find and I am sure the last of her pups have gone in for training by now. I would love to learn about their personalities.

Hello There!

I along with Jarett have raised 6 guide dog pups. We are currently raising pup # 7. These are our stories, our adventures, our experiences. Please follow us and watch our pups grow into their paws and from jacket into harness. Feel free to leave a comment. We enjoy hearing what you have to say.
